The 1.5V AA Panasonic Evolta Alkaline batteries are supposedly the best primary batteries of the Alkaline type that Panasonic has. Panasonic claims that these Evolta series offer exceptional performance in low, mid and high drain products, but we need to check and confirm for ourselves before agreeing to that claim. We have already tested Panasonic Pro Power Alkaline batteries and they were performing among the top ones, so we are starting with high expectation from the Evolta as well, but let us see what capacity they can actually deliver. The batteries we tested here were with an expiration date of 02-2019.

We have started the test of the 1.5V AA Panasonic Evolta Alkaline batteries as we normally do with a low constant current discharge rate of 0.1A and the result we got was 2342 mAh as capacity. With this result the Evolta goes somewhere in the middle of our Top 10 Alkaline batteries for low load applications and rates, but is still less than the Panasonic Pro Power. Increasing the constant current load to 0.2A and the performance of the Evolta goes below the top 10, the same goes for the higher load of 0.5A and only at the 1.0A test it barely manages to get into the bottom of the Top 10. So the conclusion is that although the Evolta is performing quite well at low loads, but it does not handle as well with higher constant current loads as our tests are showing. There are simply better alternatives to the Panasonic Evolta Alkaline batteries.

The performance of the 1.5V AA Panasonic Evolta Alkaline batteries in our tests:

– 2342 mAh at 0.1A load
– 1641 mAh at 0.2A load
– 850 mAh at 0.5A load
– 478 mAh at 1.0A load

– 2.946 Wh at 0.1A load
– 2.010 Wh at 0.2A load
– 1.011 Wh at 0.5A load
– 0.549 Wh at 1.0A load

The 1.5V AAA Panasonic Pro Power Alkaline are supposed to offer premium energy for personal appliances and should be ideal for high and medium drain appliances according to Panasonic. They are almost the highest-end Alkaline batteries that the company offers, the only supposedly better option are the ones in the Evolta range. The Panasonic Pro Power Alkaline batteries we tested here were with an expiration date of 01-2018 meaning that they should be offering at least 5 years shelf life.

Starting our test as we usually do with a low constant current discharge rate of 0.1A we have managed to get 794 mAh as capacity from the 1.5V AAA Panasonic Pro Power Alkaline batteries, or a it disappointing result placing them more in the mid-range among the AAA size Alkaline batteries we have tested so far. At 0.2A and 0.3A constant current discharge rates the batteries still perform quite well, though at a level of 0.5A there is a more significant drop in the usable capacity you can get, meaning that these batteries are not going to be handling well in devices that have quite high power requirements and are using AAA-size batteries.

The performance of the 1.5V AAA Panasonic Pro Power Alkaline batteries in our tests:

– 794 mAh at 0.1A load
– 593 mAh at 0.2A load
– 492 mAh at 0.3A load
– 159 mAh at 0.5A load

– 0.964 Wh at 0.1A load
– 0.707 Wh at 0.2A load
– 0.568 Wh at 0.3A load
– 0.173 Wh at 0.5A load

The 1.5V AA Panasonic Pro Power Alkaline batteries are from the mid to high-range of primary batteries from Panasonic situated at one level below the top Evolta range of Alkaline batteries. Panasonic claims that it has improved capacity of the new Pro Power batteries so that they can offer up to 80% extra performance compared to their last years Alkaline range of batteries (the maximum difference measured between Panasonic Pro Power production 2012 and Panasonic Standard Power production 2011 by Panasonic). The 1.5V AA Panasonic Pro Power Alkaline batteries we got for testing are with an expiration date of 02-2020, so quite a long shelf life for these batteries. Panasonic says that these are ideal for high and medium drain appliances, so let us see how they perform in our tests.

Starting our tests of the 1.5V AA Panasonic Pro Power Alkaline batteries as usual with a constant current discharge rate of 0.1A we’ve managed to get 2517 mAh capacity and that is actually a very good result fr an Alkaline battery, though not the highest we’ve got so far (we should also check the Panasonic Evolta batteries). Increasing the constant current discharge rate to 0.2A and the batteries still manage to handle very well, and even going further we are still getting very good performance. So the 1.5V AA Panasonic Pro Power Alkaline batteries are probably among the top Alkaline batteries you can currently get, and they are certainly giving better results than the standard Duracell Copper Top batteries.

The performance of the 1.5V AA Panasonic Pro Power Alkaline Batteries in our tests:

– 2517 mAh at 0.1A load
– 1859 mAh at 0.2A load
– 1178 mAh at 0.5A load
– 572 mAh at 1.0A load

– 3.159 Wh at 0.1A load
– 2.298 Wh at 0.2A load
– 1.378 Wh at 0.5A load
– 0.636 Wh at 1.0A load
