The 1.2V AAA 1000 mAh Sanyo Superlattice Alloy Evo NiMH batteries are the standard Sanyo batteries that are not low self discharge (LSD) like their Eneloop series, but as we’ve seen other batteries from the same “regular” series performing great as one would expect from Sanyo. These batteries are rated as 1000 mAh typical capacity and have a rating of 930 mAh minimum capacity and we did expect to see them managing to meet these specifications. Of course we do plan to test the Eneloop and Eneloop XX LSD NiMH batteries very soon as well, so stay tuned form more battery tests of products coming from Sanyo.

We have started the test of the 1.2V AAA 1000 mAh Sanyo Superlattice Alloy Evo NiMH batteries as we normally do with a low constant current discharge rate of 0.1A and the result we got was 1050 mAh as capacity and that is pretty impressive. At 0.2A they manage get close to 1000 mAh, even at 0.5A constant current load these batteries manage to provide more than their minimum rating and going even higher at 1.0A they still manage to perform very well. In the end as we’ve expected from Sanyo these regular series coming from the company manages to perform really well and exceed their specifications, so really a great product.

The performance of the 1.2V AAA 1000 mAh Sanyo Superlattice Alloy Evo NiMH batteries in our tests:

– 1050 mAh at 0.1A load
– 972 mAh at 0.2A load
– 934 mAh at 0.5A load
– 838 mAh at 1.0A load

– 1.335 Wh at 0.1A load
– 1.211 Wh at 0.2A load
– 1.129 Wh at 0.5A load
– 0.963 Wh at 1.0A load

The 1.2V AAA 850 mAh Hama Ready for Power NiMH batteries are rechargeable batteries of the LSD type (Low Self Discharge) – batteries that come pre-charged and ready to be used and that retain most of their capacity over longer periods of time unlike the standard NiMH batteries that lose their charge at a faster rate. Hama is an European brand that is known for various computer and not only computer accessories and they often have interesting products at good prices, so let us see if these batteries are such a product or not…

We have started the test of the 1.2V AAA 850 mAh Hama Ready for Power NiMH batteries as we normally do with a low constant current discharge rate of 0.1A and the result we got was 992 mAh, a surprisingly good result from a battery rated at 850 mAh. Increasing the constant current load to 0.2A these batteries still manage to provide more than their rated capacity, and going for 0.5A load they fall just a bit below their rated capacity. Even with a 1.0A constant current discharge load we got surprisingly high useable capacity, meaning that Hama did really well with this product and it not only meets the ratings, but surpasses them quite a lot. The batteries handle very well not only with a low current load, but with a high loads as well, making them suitable for all applications. the good useable capacity under low and high loads, together with the low self discharge capabilities makes these rechargeable Hama batteries a good choice for various needs.

The performance of the 1.2V AAA 850 mAh Hama Ready for Power NiMH Batteries in our tests:

– 992 mAh at 0.1A load
– 897 mAh at 0.2A load
– 843 mAh at 0.5A load
– 766 mAh at 1.0A load

– 1.239 Wh at 0.1A load
– 1.103 Wh at 0.2A load
– 1.000 Wh at 0.5A load
– 0.852 Wh at 1.0A load

The 1.5V AAA Panasonic Pro Power Alkaline are supposed to offer premium energy for personal appliances and should be ideal for high and medium drain appliances according to Panasonic. They are almost the highest-end Alkaline batteries that the company offers, the only supposedly better option are the ones in the Evolta range. The Panasonic Pro Power Alkaline batteries we tested here were with an expiration date of 01-2018 meaning that they should be offering at least 5 years shelf life.

Starting our test as we usually do with a low constant current discharge rate of 0.1A we have managed to get 794 mAh as capacity from the 1.5V AAA Panasonic Pro Power Alkaline batteries, or a it disappointing result placing them more in the mid-range among the AAA size Alkaline batteries we have tested so far. At 0.2A and 0.3A constant current discharge rates the batteries still perform quite well, though at a level of 0.5A there is a more significant drop in the usable capacity you can get, meaning that these batteries are not going to be handling well in devices that have quite high power requirements and are using AAA-size batteries.

The performance of the 1.5V AAA Panasonic Pro Power Alkaline batteries in our tests:

– 794 mAh at 0.1A load
– 593 mAh at 0.2A load
– 492 mAh at 0.3A load
– 159 mAh at 0.5A load

– 0.964 Wh at 0.1A load
– 0.707 Wh at 0.2A load
– 0.568 Wh at 0.3A load
– 0.173 Wh at 0.5A load
