The 1.5V AA Verbatim Premium Alkaline batteries are the only standard AA size Alkaline batteries offered by Verbatim, even though they are labeled as Premium there is no regular version available. The expiration date on the batteries we’ve tested was 06-2017 and even though we could not find a shelf live cited, we can safely assume something like 5 years for these batteries.

We have started the test of the 1.5V AA Verbatim Premium Alkaline batteries as we normally do with a low constant current discharge rate of 0.1A and the result we got was 2166 mAh as capacity – a good result for low load applications, though far from the best ones we’ve seen from AA size. Increasing the load ot 0.2A we still get a decent performance, but going higher than that at 0.5A and 1.0A we can see that these batteries are not performing that well, meaning they are not the wisest choice for high load applications.

The performance of the 1.5V AA Verbatim Premium Alkaline batteries in our tests:

– 2166 mAh at 0.1A load
– 1527 mAh at 0.2A load
– 613 mAh at 0.5A load
– 306 mAh at 1.0A load

– 2.626 Wh at 0.1A load
– 1.797 Wh at 0.2A load
– 0.674 Wh at 0.5A load
– 0.329 Wh at 1.0A load

The 1.5V AA Xcell Alkaline batteries don’t seem as something special, but we’ve decided to give them a try and see how good will they be able to perform in our tests. The batteries we’ve used for testing were with an expiration date of just the year 2017, no specific month, so they should be with either 4 or 5 years of shelf life.

Starting our test of the 1.5V AA Xcell Alkaline batteries as we usually do with a low constant current discharge rate of 0.1A we have managed to get 2063 mAh as capacity. With that capacity they do not manage to get into our top 10 of best AA-size Alkaline batteries, though the level of capacity they offer is still more than decent if the price is right. Increasing the level of constant current load that we are testing with to 0.2A we still get a decent useable capacity, but past that the performance gets even worse, so better not use these batteries for higher power drain applications.

The performance of the 1.5V AA Xcell Alkaline batteries in our tests:

– 2063 mAh at 0.1A load
– 1586 mAh at 0.2A load
– 761 mAh at 0.5A load
– 267 mAh at 1.0A load

– 2.521 Wh at 0.1A load
– 1.858 Wh at 0.2A load
– 0.859 Wh at 0.5A load
– 0.293 Wh at 1.0A load

The 1.5V AAA Panasonic Pro Power Alkaline are supposed to offer premium energy for personal appliances and should be ideal for high and medium drain appliances according to Panasonic. They are almost the highest-end Alkaline batteries that the company offers, the only supposedly better option are the ones in the Evolta range. The Panasonic Pro Power Alkaline batteries we tested here were with an expiration date of 01-2018 meaning that they should be offering at least 5 years shelf life.

Starting our test as we usually do with a low constant current discharge rate of 0.1A we have managed to get 794 mAh as capacity from the 1.5V AAA Panasonic Pro Power Alkaline batteries, or a it disappointing result placing them more in the mid-range among the AAA size Alkaline batteries we have tested so far. At 0.2A and 0.3A constant current discharge rates the batteries still perform quite well, though at a level of 0.5A there is a more significant drop in the usable capacity you can get, meaning that these batteries are not going to be handling well in devices that have quite high power requirements and are using AAA-size batteries.

The performance of the 1.5V AAA Panasonic Pro Power Alkaline batteries in our tests:

– 794 mAh at 0.1A load
– 593 mAh at 0.2A load
– 492 mAh at 0.3A load
– 159 mAh at 0.5A load

– 0.964 Wh at 0.1A load
– 0.707 Wh at 0.2A load
– 0.568 Wh at 0.3A load
– 0.173 Wh at 0.5A load
