Tests and reviews of different batteries to help you find the Right One…
The 1.5V AA Toshiba Alkaline batteries are a standard Alkaline batteries with no fancy naming to tell you they are something special or different than normal primary batteries for single use. In fact these are the Standard Alkaline batteries from Toshiba, though they also have a lower-end Blue Line Alkaline batteries and higher-end named Alpha Power. The shelf life of the 1.5V AA Toshiba Standard Alkaline batteries is supposed to be 7 years and the expiration date of the ones we used for the tests here is 06-2019. According to Toshiba these batteries are ideal for portable radios, handheld computers, pagers, pocket electronic games etc. Surprising we even found something like a specs sheet for these batteries on Toshiba’s website, though it did not mention anything about expected capacity, you can find the link below.
We have started the test of the 1.5V AA Toshiba Alkaline batteries with a constant current discharge rate of 0.1A here we’ve managed to get 2467 mAh and that is nothing short of great performance at this level of constant current load. Furthermore going at 0.2A the batteries also performed superb, though at even higher constant current load levels their performance is a bit lower than the best performing models we’ve tested so far. So it seems that these Toshiba Standard Alkaline batteries are great for use in devices with lower power requirements, where they can provide the best performance they can. At lower constant current load these batteries were able to outperform the standard Duracell Copper Top Alkaline batteries, though at higher loads the Duracell performs slightly better.
The performance of the 1.5V AA Toshiba Alkaline Batteries in our tests:
– 2467 mAh at 0.1A load
– 1903 mAh at 0.2A load
– 1025 mAh at 0.5A load
– 324 mAh at 1.0A load
– 3.067 Wh at 0.1A load
– 2.286 Wh at 0.2A load
– 1.189 Wh at 0.5A load
– 0.352 Wh at 1.0A load

The 1.5V AA Maxell Alkaline batteries are the mid-range Alkaline batteries from Maxell, they also have a Super Alkaline series that is supposed to offer a bit more capacity than this standard Alkaline models and we’ll test them s well to confirm. The 1.5V AA Maxell Alkaline batteries we got for testing here are with an expiration date of 01-2018, so they are offering quite a long shelf life, but let us see what they will offer in terms of capacity and how good they will perform compared to other Alkaline batteries we’ve tested so far…
Beginning our test of the 1.5V AA Maxell Alkaline batteries with a constant current discharge rate of 0.1A we’ve managed to get 2237 mAh capacity and that is a very good result though not the highest we’ve got from Alkaline batteries we’ve tested already. Increasing the constant current load further and these Alkaline batteries from Maxell still manage to perform quite well, so we can say that they are providing above the average capacity and this only rises our expectation from Maxell’s Super Alkaline batteries that are supposed to offer even better results.
The performance of the 1.5V AA Maxell Alkaline Batteries in our tests:
– 2237 mAh at 0.1A load
– 1807 mAh at 0.2A load
– 1010 mAh at 0.5A load
– 483 mAh at 1.0A load
– 2.775 Wh at 0.1A load
– 2.166 Wh at 0.2A load
– 1.164 Wh at 0.5A load
– 0.538 Wh at 1.0A load
The 1.5V AA Panasonic Pro Power Alkaline batteries are from the mid to high-range of primary batteries from Panasonic situated at one level below the top Evolta range of Alkaline batteries. Panasonic claims that it has improved capacity of the new Pro Power batteries so that they can offer up to 80% extra performance compared to their last years Alkaline range of batteries (the maximum difference measured between Panasonic Pro Power production 2012 and Panasonic Standard Power production 2011 by Panasonic). The 1.5V AA Panasonic Pro Power Alkaline batteries we got for testing are with an expiration date of 02-2020, so quite a long shelf life for these batteries. Panasonic says that these are ideal for high and medium drain appliances, so let us see how they perform in our tests.
Starting our tests of the 1.5V AA Panasonic Pro Power Alkaline batteries as usual with a constant current discharge rate of 0.1A we’ve managed to get 2517 mAh capacity and that is actually a very good result fr an Alkaline battery, though not the highest we’ve got so far (we should also check the Panasonic Evolta batteries). Increasing the constant current discharge rate to 0.2A and the batteries still manage to handle very well, and even going further we are still getting very good performance. So the 1.5V AA Panasonic Pro Power Alkaline batteries are probably among the top Alkaline batteries you can currently get, and they are certainly giving better results than the standard Duracell Copper Top batteries.
The performance of the 1.5V AA Panasonic Pro Power Alkaline Batteries in our tests:
– 2517 mAh at 0.1A load
– 1859 mAh at 0.2A load
– 1178 mAh at 0.5A load
– 572 mAh at 1.0A load
– 3.159 Wh at 0.1A load
– 2.298 Wh at 0.2A load
– 1.378 Wh at 0.5A load
– 0.636 Wh at 1.0A load
