The 1.6V AA 1500 mAh Turnigy Rechargeable NiZn batteries are pretty much like all other Chinese NiZn batteries being sold out there, these are just made for the Hobby King’s Turnigy brand and offer the standard 1500 mAh capacity. We’ve already discussed the NiZn rechargeable batteries in more detail, so now we are just going to focus on their performance. Just a bit of warning – do not try to charge NiZn batteries in normal NiMH chargers and be careful when using them in various devices as some electronics might not be able to handle the slightly higher voltage of these batteries even when compared to Alkaline’s nominal voltage, let alone the even lower NiHM nominal voltage.

We have started the test of the 1.6V AA 1500 mAh Turnigy Rechargeable NiZn batteries as we normally do with a low constant current discharge rate of 0.2A and the result we got was 1583 mAh as capacity or a bit over the rating ofthe batteries of 1500 mAh. So a very good start for the Turnigy NiZn batteries at a lower load, and going at 0.5A and 1.0A constant current load they still manage to perform great with useable capacity a bit below 1500 mAh. Even at the very high current load of 2.0A the 1.6V AA 1500 mAh Turnigy Rechargeable NiZn batteries manage to provide you with almost 1400 mAh useable capacity and that is a great result. In the end we can say that the Turnigy Rechargeable NiZn batteries do perform very well and have pleasantly surprised us with their results, so if you need NiZn batteries you might want to check the Turnigy ones, especially considering the good price.

The performance of the1.6V AA 1500 mAh Turnigy Rechargeable NiZn batteries in our tests:

– 1583 mAh at 0.2A load
– 1463 mAh at 0.5A load
– 1447 mAh at 1.0A load
– 1397 mAh at 2.0A load

– 2.603 Wh at 0.2A load
– 2.350 Wh at 0.5A load
– 2.276 Wh at 1.0A load
– 2.080 Wh at 2.0A load

The 3S 11.1V 180 mAh Turnigy Nano-Tech 25-40C LiPo batteries are one of the smallest 3-cell Lithium-Polymer batteries available used in small-scale radio controlled models such as mini and micro cars and planes. Not to mention that these Turnigy batteries are available at a quite attractive price at hobby King, so you can buy more just to have a few spares. Of course if they are able to handle the high discharge rates that they are rated at – 25C constant and 40C burst, they could be really great, however still need to check it along with the capacity they can provide.

Official Battery Specifications:

– Capacity: 180mAh
– Voltage: 3S1P / 3 Cell / 11.1V
– Discharge: 25C Constant / 40C Burst
– Weight: 19g (including wire, plug & case)
– Dimensions: 35x20x15mm
– Balance Plug: JST-XH
– Discharge Plug: JST

Time for the actual tests, starting with a 1C discharge rate (0.18A) for the 3S 11.1V 180 mAh Turnigy Nano-Tech 25-40C LiPo battery we’ve managed to get 173 mAh as a maximum capacity and that is a bit short from the 180 mAh rating, though quite close to what it should’ve been. Moving to higher discharge rates such as 5C interestingly enough the battery was able to supply 182 mAh and 179 mAh at 10C discharge rate, apparently due to the fact that the temperature of the LiPo cells increases and the internal resistance gets lower at the higher discharge rate unlike at 1C. The temperature of the battery remains in the safe zone 55 degrees Celsius at 15C and 20C discharge rates and at 25C it gets a bit too hot at 73 degrees Celsius (out of the safe zone of up to 60) while still providing 165 mAh.

The performance of the 3S 11.1V 180 mAh Turnigy Nano-Tech 25-40C LiPo Battery in our tests:

– 173 mAh at 0.18A load (1C)
– 182 mAh at 0.90A load (5C)
– 179 mAh at 1.80A load (10C)
– 171 mAh at 2.70A load (15C)
– 170 mAh at 3.60A load (20C)
– 165 mAh at 4.50A load (25C)

We would not recommend using this battery at more than 20C for constant discharge rate, though the 3S 11.1V 180 mAh Turnigy Nano-Tech 25-40C LiPo battery may work well at 25C if properly cooled for example in a RC plane. In overall good performance and results that pretty much match the specs of the battery, though with some things that you should have in mind. Getting the battery too hot can permanently damage it or cause it to start a fire!

The 1.2V AA 2400 mAh NiMH Turnigy LSD batteries are NiMHs of the newer Low Self Discharge type that retain significantly more of their capacity over time as compared to the normal NiMH batteries that have faster self discharge. According to Hobby King selling these batteries they should not loose more than 30% of their charge in the course of a year when not being used. These Turnigy LSD batteries are rated with 2400 mAh typical capacity and not maximum capacity, though we are going to check if that claim holds true or not.

Official Specifications:

– Category: AA batteries
– Capacity: 2400mAH
– Voltage: 1.2V
– Chemistry: NiMH
– Weight: 29g
– Dimensions: 51x14mm

We started testing the 1.2V AA 2400 mAh NiMH Turnigy LSD batteries with initial discharge to see what capacity they still had when we got our order from the online store in order to check their LSD capabilities. The capacity provided was about 60-65% of their typical rated capacity, though we don’t know when they were produced, but according to the claim of about 30% discharge per year they should be made about a year ago. The minimum initial discharge capacity we got was 1505 mAh and the maximum one 1543 mAh from four different batteries that we tested with.

The 1.2V AA 2400 mAh NiMH Turnigy LSD batteries have managed to provide very good results in our tests providing 2380 mAh with a discharge rate of 0.2A that we tested as a minimum discharge rate and that is pretty good. The batteries also handle very well under high current constant discharge loads of 2A that was the maximum we tested with providing 1240 mAh. We do our tests of NiMH batteries at a constant current discharge rates of 0.2A, 0.5A, 1A and 2A or with about twice higher as compared to what we test Alkaline batteries at due to the fact that NiMH batteries tend to provide higher capacity and are able to handle better higher current draw.

The performance of the 1.2V AA 2400 mAh NiMH Turnigy LSD Batteries in our tests:

– 2380 mAh at 0.2A load
– 2149 mAh at 0.5A load
– 2139 mAh at 1A load
– 1240 mAh at 2A load

– 2.920 Wh at 0.2A load
– 2.553 Wh at 0.5A load
– 2.402 Wh at 1A load
– 1.270 Wh at 2A load

In overall the 1.2V AA 2400 mAh NiMH Turnigy LSD batteries are performing very well and are available at a very good price online, though the shipping cost makes it worthwhile only if ordering more batteries as these are only being sold online and shipped from Asia.
